I am lucky enough to live in New Zealand, which is rated one of the safest and most beautiful places in the world. We have wonderful scenery, from high snowy mountains to hundreds of beaches and fascinating geothermal wonderlands with pools of boiling mud! There is a great diversity of opportunities for anyone wanting to photograph the landscape.
For much of my life I have had a passion for photography. Both my parents were keen amateur photographers. The joke was that they married so mum could keep track of the very good camera she had sold dad! My love of photography and my childhood fascination with Marie Curie lead me to my first career as a radiographer...... so black and white is something I relate to well!
In recent years I have had the privilege of being able to travel to various parts of the world and enjoy a variety of photographic challenges. Often these trips have been with specialist photography tours and from these experiences I have learnt a lot and discovered what type of photographer I am - I have learnt that I am primarily a humanitarian photographer who enjoys capturing images of people that tell their story.
My day job is as a Human resources manager, my ethos in that role has always been to make sure that the work environment is a better place for my having been there. For me this now transfers into my photography, in that I like to be able to have my images to be of use, be that in raising awareness of an issues or in gaining sponsorship for a child's education. Photography on behalf of NGO's is my way of achieving this. If you represent an NGO and are interested in discussing this please contact me.
